We have the cure for ebola, Siriraj Hospital announces

While fears mount sluggish efforts are failing to contain West Africa’s outbreak of Ebola virus, Thailand’s state media today reports a Bangkok hospital has developed a cure.

According to its report, researchers at Siriraj Hospital have developed the world’s first vaccine that can cure infected patients.

“The team was able to develop a special kind of vaccine that would produce antibodies to cure the Ebola virus,” it claims.

On Thursday Udom Kachintorn, dean of the hospital’s Faculty of Medicine, will hold a news conference to announce their discovery.

Two months ago an experimental drug developed in the United States was believed to have helped two infected American aid workers recover. That medicine, ZMapp, is neither a cure nor vaccine, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
