Crane collapses (again) over Emporium expansion on Sukhumvit Road

Workers this afternoon sought to secure a crane which collapsed at the site of new shopping mall on Sukhumvit Road, the second such accident there in two months.

The crane collapsed at around [time] morning while workers at EmsQuartier were trying to lift concrete slabs for installation. The crane collapsed and the cascading planks reportedly damaged electric transformers and water pipes.

It’s unknown if anyone was hurt or killed in the accident.

EmQuartier is part of The Mall Group’s massive expansion to Emporium called “The Epicenter of Sukhumvit.”

In September a similar accident occurred raising planks at the project. At the time workers sealed off the building after the accident and did not allow rescue volunteers or reporters into the site, according to BangkokBizNews. They said no one was injured at that time.
