Police raid On Nut church, bust 20 undocumented African migrants

A Christian church popular with Nigerians for preaching the gospel was raided by police Sunday after complaints from its neighbors.

Narcotics and immigration cops descended on The New Life Praying Ministry on Soi On Nut 44 to search for signs of drug use and check the legal status of its members, reportedly in response to noise complaints.

There were about 100 worshipers at the church yesterday, all of whom were reportedly Nigerian.

No drugs were found but police busted 20 people without proper documents, Khaosod reported.

Police Gen. Noppasit Sitthipongsopon said the search was conducted under the authority of martial law. He said the church has the wrong address listed in its license, which indicates it is located on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 24.
