A new road linking Thailand and Cambodia will open in Sisaket province by the end of 2015.
Where travelers were once limited to the land border connecting Aranyaprathet to the seedy border frontier of Poipet, the crossing when finished will be part of growing connections between neighbors as the Asean Economic Community comes into effect later this year.
Deputy Transport Minister Akom Termpittayapaisit expects the 7.5-kilometer road to be completed in November. It will connect the province’s Phusing district and roads bound for Siem Reap, a popular tourist destination.
The Ministry of Transport will also begin a bus service over the crossing from Bangkok to Sisaket to Siem Reap.
