Bus conductor accused of pushing child off bus

A bus conductor who allegedly pushed a developmentally disabled child off her bus was suspended from her duties yesterday.

Transportation officials are investigating accusations the conductor of bus No. 202 shoved the boy off of her bus when he couldn’t produce money to pay the fare on Sunday after video of the injured child was posted by someone who came to his aid.

“So when you said you didn’t have money, they hit you and pushed you off the bus?” a man asks.

The child, who appears traumatized in the footage still in panic, nods and points at a bloody wound on his right cheek.

In the video, several locals who witnessed the boy collapse on the street help to calm him down and try asking what happened.

The boy said he got on the bus near Boonranawich School in Bang Phlat district after which he said he was pushed off the bus.

Ton Rak, the user who posted the video, claimed the boy underwent several brain surgeries which left the scars on his head.

Under questioning yesterday by operator Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, conductor Thananya Sae-ung and driver Bamrung Patprom of bus No. 203 told authorities the boy simply fell after getting off the bus.

Thananya said she knows the boy and has always let him ride for free. On Sunday, she jokingly asked him to pay for the fare, but then she said he slapped her with his backpack. At that moment, the bus stopped and Thananya said the child must have fallen after getting off the bus.

She insisted she did not injure or touch him. Thananya added that passengers in the bus witnessed the incident, and she would be willing to accept punishment if the story was true.

While the investigation continues, the two have suspended from their jobs for seven days, Channel 7 reported.
