Prepare more baht for cross-river and canal runs

Getting across the river will soon become a little more expensive later as the marine department says it is updating rates for ferries across the mighty Chao Phraya.

Part of a scheduled revision, the revised fares for Chao Phraya ferries and Saen Saeb Canal boats will reflect changes to employee salaries, fuel costs and the amount of passengers using the various ferry services, according to department head Chula Sukmanop.

Shedding some light on its process, they said ferries with fewer passengers charge more than busier boats to keep them profitable.

Apparently this process will require significant study as the new fares won’t be revealed until August, according to state media.
