Photo Essay: Red shirts rally from Constitution Court to Parliament

At 10am today, “red-shirt” political protestors rallied through Bangkok streets, moving from the Constitution Court to Parliament.

The rally passed through several high-traffic areas including Chaeng Wattana Road, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Phaholyothin Road and finally Uthong Nai Road. It was there that the group submitted a letter to the Parliament, requesting that nine judges step down, as the protestors believed that these judges had abused their authority.

Coconuts today photographed some 600 protestors, who were travelling on pickup trucks and motorbikes, equipped with loudspeakers and banners. Today’s march is part of the three-week-long red-shirt protest, which started on April 22.

Over 2,500 police officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau were deployed to ensure peace throughout the demonstration. No violence has yet been reported.
