DINING DISPATCH: Legendary Oregon brew reaches Bangkok

Deschutes Brewery (and its concoctions) is often on the lips of America’s beer geeks. A small-time Oregon brewery that strictly distributes its beer to the West coast and Midwestern states, Deschutes has gained a sterling reputation.

New York City doesn’t get this stuff, but the guys at Beervana have managed to import Deschutes’ liquid gold out here to Bangkok. Again, this beer can’t even be enjoyed by folks from the Eastern portion of the U.S. of A, so it’s quite a thrill for Bangkok beer junkies to see it in the Mystic East.

The Pacific Northwestern brew will be available in Bangkok starting June 8, and you can find it at the usual beer joints throughout the city.

To commemorate Deschutes’s arrival, Bill Marinelli’s the Oyster Bar will host a private tasting on the eighth, featuring sustainable seafood paired with Deschutes brews. Tickets are THB800 for the dinner.

If you don’t feel like shelling out for dinner at Bill Marinelli’s, then you can get acquainted to the new beer by heading to Hemingway’s in Asoke where you’ll have the opportunity to sample free flights at a party backed by Beervana and Duck & Noodle.
