Thailand saw a 17.4% year-on-year increase in its car production this April; production of sedans rose by 105%.
According to Surapong Paisitpatanapong, spokesman for the Automotive Industry Club, the number of cars produced in the month of April stood at 170,400 units, which adds up to a 17.4% rise year-on-year and a 33.5% drop from the previous month.
He said the reason behind the drop is that there were fewer working days in April than in March.
Surapong further revealed that car production in the first four months of 2013 rose 38.4% compared to the same period last year. Production of sedans rose a steep, 105%, to nearly 400,000 units altogether. The spokesman expects Thailand to produce around 2.4 million units this year.
