Fourteen lions, countless other animals seized during raid on Khlong Sam Wa house

During a raid earlier today on a house in Soi Hatairat 39 in the Khlong Sam Wa district, police found between two and three-hundred wild animals. Among the wildlife seized were 14 lions, tigers, leopards, hornbills and turtles.

Authorities said that the house served as a temporary shelter for animals that had been smuggled in from abroad. The animals would wait at the house before being sent out to buyers both inside Thailand and in neighboring countries. Police believe that the house was part of a massive network of wildlife traders, seeing as those involved in this crime had been convicted in similar cases before.

All wildlife captured in the raid will be handed over to Khao Kheow Wildlife Park while the wrongdoers are detained for interrogation, INN reported.

  1. Im so pleased to hear that the animals have been resuced. Why do people do this? I wish those animals well & that the low life will be bought to justice. All this for money. What a sad world we live in.
