TripAdvisor: Bangkok is sixth least expensive global travel city

It’s time for more rankings, folks.

Indeed, Bangkok was ranked the sixth most affordable global destination city for travelers according to the recently released TripAdvisor TripIndex 2013.

The Thai capital dropped from its 2012 third place showing on the Least Expensive International Cities Index.

TripAdvisor had the following findings about prices in the City of Angels:

– the average one night stay in a four-star hotel for two is USD109.27 (THB3,384)

– the average two-mile-each-way return taxi trip is USD3.13 (THB97)

– the average two-course dinner for two with a bottle of wine is USD69.75 (THB2,160.85)

– cocktails for two, on average, are US19 (THB613)

Do those figures jive with your experiences here?

In other price index ranking news, a report from staffing firm ECA International found that the cost of living for expats rose significantly in the past year.
