Huge haul of cosmetics, medicines confiscated by police

The Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) has apprehended smugglers of restricted cosmetics and medicines, seizing more than 10 million baht worth of illegal items.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) prohibits the illicit products, which included Botox, supplement tablets and materials and machines used in cosmetics production.

Police confiscated the illegal goods from Wealthy and Growth Company Limited, located in the Lat Phrao District, as well as from the company’s warehouse in Beung Kum District.

According to the CPPD Chief, Police Major General Nipon Chareonpol, investigation is underway to determine what ingredients the confiscated medicine or cosmetics contain and where the products were distributed.

The alleged importer, Pipat Tamatrat, claimed that his practice is legal, saying that he had been importing the goods for more than five years, bringing in quality products from such countries as France, South Korea and Germany.

The police charged Mr. Pipat with selling medicine without license, selling unregistered medicine, and selling medicine and cosmetics with misleading labels.
