Makkasan Airport Rail Link – Petchaburi MRT skywalk under construction

Praise be!

It looks like they’re finally building a better way for travelers and commuters to connect from the Airport Rail Link to the MRT.

So far, getting from Makkasan Airport Link station to Petchaburi MRT (or vice versa) has been an absolute nightmare.

You have to cross a busy traffic intersection and train tracks (both without any crosswalk) and then slog through about 500 meters of the Makkasan parking lot, dodging sometimes villainous taxi drivers and motosais.

It’s not a lot of fun when you’re not carrying anything – we can’t imagine what it’s like for first-time tourists who try to make the supposedly easy connection with big bags.

But now, as seen in a photo taken by Coconuts fan and Builk app co-founder Patai Padungtin, the powers that be are constructing what looks like a more civilized skywalk and escalator to connect the two stations.

This will mean better connectivity for commuters between the Lat Phrao / Ratchada /  Asoke / Silom areas that the MRT covers and the Phaya Thai / Ramkamhaeng / Suvarnabhumi route of the Airport Rail Link as well as a nicer welcome for weary travelers to Bangkok.

Praise be!
