Pattaya monk wins THB38 million lottery, promptly flees temple

A Pattaya monk reportedly fled Wat Dhamsamakkee shortly after he won a big lottery jackpot this Sunday.

The winner of the prize worth THB38 million was ordained as a Buddhist monk at the temple eight months ago. He bought the lottery from a vendor one day before the winning numbers were announced.

Another monk, who bought the lottery from the same vendor, received a big prize as well. Phra Kajornsak Chantathammobhikku told Khaosod that he was ordained on June 16, the same day he won a THB6 million jackpot. Phra Kajornsak just claimed the money and split the sum into two chunks: one for his mother and the other for an orphanage.
