4 places to find bargain prices on genuine designer bags

China may have the upper hand when it comes to fake banks, fake universities and fake Apple stores, but our fair city is pretty competitive in the fake designer bag market. Still, there are a few retail entrepreneurs out there whose goal is to discern the authentic and weed out the brummagem. So before you finally give in to those hi-so cravings and brave the snobby staff at Chanel in Paragon, or book that ticket direct to Milan’s factory outlets, check out these shops that guarantee the genuine article, either first or second hand, at a price that won’t (completely) empty your bank account.

Lux Living
With branches in Interchange Tower in Asoke and Kamphaeng Phet Mall in Chatuchak, Lux Living has an extensive collection of secondhand designer bags. Certain coveted styles like the Chanel classic flap bag are rare though, and they go fast, so if you’re looking for something specific contact the owner so she can keep an eye out for you. She’ll even look for your desired purchase on her frequent trips to Japan if you ask nicely!

Tid-BrandName
Tid, at her long-time location in Siam Square, stocks new and secondhand authentic bags and accessories. New stock is available for pre-order, while secondhand stock, priced according to condition, has a high turnover because of its affordability. There’s a ton of products here and what you can’t find the owner will order.

Chic Shop
This shop is a favorite of designer-addicted celebs like Pancake, who features heavily on the store’s Facebook page. A new location at J Avenue Thonglor in eyesight of Greyhound’s outdoor seating area is a smart move. Staring at the new Prada bag over your lunch date’s shoulders for an hour will definitely leave a lasting subliminal message. The in-store selection is quite limited; we suspect that’s because the owner’s friends are quick to reserve new stock for themselves.

Megshop
Megshop, located within walking distance from Chong Nonsi BTS, has an extensive collection of new merchandise, including all the usual Chanel, Prada and Hermes suspects. They pride themselves on authenticity and having the latest, trendiest styles. There’s a tiny selection of used bags, but they only accept items in immaculate condition so expect premium prices. Not as much a discount store, as the place to go for classic, rare or unique products that aren’t available in department stores.
