Introducing Jaytherabbit, Thailand’s meme for adult women

Thailand has embraced internet memes to the extent that you may already be tired of them. But if you’re bored with cat pictures, laughing Obamas, and Rage Faces then Jaytherabbit might bring a little smile back to your face (and restore your hope in modern-day humor).

Jaytherabbit is a self-described sassy Thai rabbit that rants about her love life. She represents a certain type of successful, single, middle-aged woman looking for love that is abundant in Bangkok. The combination of cheeky, adult-rated jokes and parody of modern Thai culture will have you nodding your head in agreement, and you won’t be alone: Jaytherabbit has become an Internet sensation and gained over 270K followers on Facebook within 60 days.

Most of her statements revolve around being a single, yet highly-experienced lover and having a termite (literally) best friend, who is far from a queen bee and will probably never get married.

Here are some of Jaytherabbit’s best moments translated into English. Enjoy.

1. “The management should be responsible for the late hours that I should be spending finding a man. (And the night security guard is gay!)”

2. “You have a man, but are you as rich as me?”

 3. A friend calling to brag about her husband: “He reads Attitude? That’s great! Quite a bookworm,  isn’t he? I see he likes to go to the gym with a bunch of his friends and helps you pick your mascara. Great husband!”

 4. “Beauty can wait until pay day.”

5. “Stop hurting our children by not asking them about their love life (especially, in the family reunion.) ‘Mom, I didn’t get an education to find a husband!’ “

 5. “Mascara and hair bands may affect your success in hailing a cab. ‘Hi Taxi, I’m going to Lad Prao’.”

6. I’m not giving my heart away as easily as my body.”

8. The Friday afternoon routine at work of a sad single woman without a date:

Unnecessarily proof-read the already finished reports.

– Stay late for absolutely no reason.

– Ask her gay friend out for dinner.

– Keep touching up the makeup and hope for miracles.

– Stalk other colleagues’ Facebook to see if they have a plan.

– Talk about ‘spending quality time’ with her mom loudly on the phone so everyone can hear.

– Show a picture of her dog to everyone at work.

– Tell everyone her car is broken before they say anything.

– Clutter her desk.
