Apocalypse Now: Thai Beliebers go bonkers at Bangkok concert announcement

This week’s sign that the apocalypse is upon us: Justin Bieber is coming Bangkok.

And even though his concert is still three months away on Sept. 26, Thai “Beliebers” were not able to hold back their hormone-powered emotions at a press conference announcing the show yesterday at CentralWorld.

Humble Coconuts correspondents Praj Kiatpongsan and Kajonsak Intarapong were on the scene to document the carnage as organizer BEC-TERO offered a first exclusive batch of exclusive tickets to only 100 diehard fans, which sold out in the blink of an eye.

“The subsequent scene was the emotional part: Those who got tickets were at the top of the world and those who didn’t were so tearful it was depressing,” said Praj.

The Biebs has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. His pet monkey was confiscated in Germany (really), police found guns and drugs on his tour bus in Sweden, his neighbors in LA keep complaining about his reckless Ferrari driving, and he wasn’t invited to the Grammys. Which made him very sad. And mad.

We can only imagine the type of antics that he might get involved in here in Bangkok, but we can only say that the potential for creative synergy between Bieber and Thailand’s monkey community makes us very excited.

Justin Bieber will perform in Bangkok after an Atlanta show and before gigs in Saitama City, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; and Macau.

Tickets will officially go on sale for the show at Thai Ticket Major outlets on July 7. Bieber will perform at IMPACT Challenger 3, Muang Thong Thani on Sept. 26, with tickets going for THB2,500, THB4,000, THB5,000 and THB6,500.
