Monk’s beloved pooch dognapped by evil truck driver

The kidnapping of Somwang (aka “Hopeful”), the intelligent and faithful dog of an Udon Thani monk, is setting Thai social media abuzz currently.

Somwang was Phra Nutee Suttathammo’s pet and the five-year-old golden retriever is well-known to the locals as he always follows Phra Nutee during his morning bintabaht (the Buddhist monk morning routine of asking people for food).

Somwang would pull a food cart alongside his master every day, eliciting many a smile from the locals. Phra Nutee said Somwang would wake him up for bintabaht every morning and willingly pull the cart for him.

But on Aug. 28, Phra Nutee made a stop in Nong Wa district and left the dog in the van by himself. When he came back, Somwang was gone and people in the area said that he was stolen by a truck driver.

Donations have been made from generous folks on social media in the hope that the evil truck driver might return the beloved golden retriever for money, Sanook reported.
