Temple displays coffins on roadside to reduce car crashes

In an effort to remind drivers to be careful, a Nonthaburi temple is displaying six empty coffins on the roadside outside the temple.

After numerous accidents in front of the temple, Ajarn Sutthijiraya Piwat, the head of the monks of Prasaat Temple started displaying coffins on the side of the road with a message: “Buy a coffin for passed souls here”.

Donation boxes are also place nearby for travelers to donate. The donations will be used to buy a coffin for the dead whose family cannot afford one, Sutthijiraya said.

He added coffin is a symbol of death and a great wake-up call for commuters that they should not be reckless on the road, Khaosod reported.
