A photo of a rusty water pipe on Rama 3 road that was shared on Twitter prompted locals to question the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) slogan “tap water is safe to drink.”
The MWA announced on their Facebook page yesterday that the pipe in the photo hasn’t been used for years, and the pipe was placed on the sidewalk as it was being removed.
The MWA added that they have replaced 99 percent of the old water pipes, and the World Health Organization (WHO) guaranteed that the tap water in the Bangkok Metropolitan area adheres to their standards.
