Srinakharinwirot University admission exam comes into question

Several students who took Srinakharinwirot University’s annual admission examination this weekend are questioning the relevance of the questions on the test. As the test takers wait for their results, discussion has turned to why the multiple-choice questions were so confusing and, oftentimes, irrelevant to the subject being tested.

This year more than 92,000 high schoolers participated in the examination, which is the sole criteria for entrance into the university. According to Channel 3, only 2,900 students are accepted every year.

The following two questions were asked of potential film production major students:

1. Who is the director of Pee Mak?

A) Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit

B) Jira Maligool

C) Songyos Sugmakanan

D) Kongdej Jaturanrasamee

2. What film was screening in a Colorado movie theater during the 2012 Aurora mass shooting?

A) Batman

B) Superman

C) Spiderman

D) The Avenger

The answer to the first question is none of the above. The test makers did not put in the right answer, which is Banjong Pisanthanakun from GTH. And the answer to the second question is A) Batman. Yet students asked how the screening of Batman and the shooting had to do with their film production knowledge.

Two more questions students deemed irrelevant were for product design major hopefuls.

3. Which place below set the highest price for carbonated drinks?

A) 7-11

B) Mon-and-pop grocery shop

C) Tesco Lotus

D) Major Cineplex movie theater

4. Which sport does Thailand never receive an Olympic medal from?

A) Boxing

B) Shooting

C) Weightlifting

D) Taekwondo

The answers to the third and fourth question are D) and B) respectively. The questions should clearly be testing marketing majors or sport majors.
