It could prove a wet Wednesday for flood-wary neighbors of the mighty Chao Phraya River, parts of which are already cresting nearly two meters above sea level.

Flood waters could breach defenses and soak communities in central Bangkok on Wednesday and Thursday, when flood waters are expected to peak, warns the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority.

Nearly a cubic kilometer’s worth of unexpected water is surging down each second from a swollen dam not far away in Lop Buri province.

Adisak Khantee of the BMA said there is genuine cause for concern, especially as water levels at locations such as Pak Klong Talad had reached as high as 1.97 meters,  The Nation reports.
