Expats to step into the ring for charity

A group of Bangkok expats will punch each other senseless this Thursday in the name of charity. The third annual white-collar boxing event “Fight Night” will once again support Operation Smile Thailand.

Operation Smile Thailand helps provide free reconstructive surgery to poor children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates and craniofacial deformities. The charity also develops and provides post-operative care such as dental programs and after surgery speech therapy programs for patients and parents.

The eight boxers, who have been training for four to six months prior to the event, comprise of such bastions of industry as a COO for Dusit International Group, a publisher, and a CEO of a fitness center, among others.

The Fight Night is not just about boxing. There will be a silent auction, a raffle, plenty of alcoholic beverages, music, and a giant Jumbotron screening classic boxing fights to help get the fighters and spectators in the mood.

Organizers are hoping to raise THB3 million, which will go towards helping more than 100 children receive free surgery from volunteer doctors.

Fight Night is this Thursday at the The Dusit Thani Hotel, Napalai Ballroom. The event is sold out.
