Tall Tale: Towering Thai the world’s tallest?

Is Thailand the secret home of the world’s tallest human?

Pornchai Saosri, 24 of Surin, is 2.57 meters of man, which would put him 25 and 28 centimeters above NBA legends Manute Bol and Yao Ming, respectively.

Pornchai, who cannot stand straight and has problems walking, was measured earlier this month by authorities at the Prasat District Office when he needed his ID card renewed.

The result: exactly 257 centimeters or 8 feet, 5 inches. Pornchai was measured while sitting because of his difficulties. He weighs 225 kilograms, Sanook reported. Currently, the Guinness-recognized tallest is Sultan Kosen from Turkey, who came in at 251 centimeters in 2011.

So does this mean our man in Surin could claim the record for the kingdom? Someone, please make a call.

In a video posted to Youtube on Oct. 18, the gentle-looking giant can be seen struggling to move and go about his life, including operating a specially built, blue tricycle to get around.

Dr. Tossaporn Serirak, government permanent secretary, said Pornchai could be suffering from malfunctioned growth hormones, and he will help the young giant receive proper hospital treatment in Bangkok.

Previously, Malee Duangdee was recorded Thailand’s tallest woman with 214 centimeters height or 7 feet, 1 inch.
