Is that Viagra in your coffee, or are you just happy to see me?
Officials with the Food and Drug Administration along with police confiscated THB3 million-worth of goods from One Fan Co., Ltd, the main distributor of a brand of coffee which promises male sexual enhancement. Turns out there may have been some truth to their marketing hype.
The authorities performed a search in the company located on Raminthra Road after the Department of Medical Science found the coffee contains Sildenafil or Viagra, which is a prescription-only drug in Thailand.
The authorities found 66,264 coffee bags in the company’s warehouse. Paitoon Sanseenin, a company partner, claims his organization was not aware of the illegal substance and only trades coffee he bought from a manufacturer in Chumporn province.
The authorities will run a test on the confiscated products, and if illegal substance is found, the company and manufacturer could face up to two years in prison and a THB20,000 fine, Komchadluek reported.
One Fan coffee is sold at beauty product retailers all over the country for THB590 per box. Celebrity Tak Bongoj represents the brand.
