Heroes of the Realm: Diving class rescues ferry passengers

When they were learning how to adjust their regulators and valves, they couldn’t have known the challenge waiting in the water that day.

A class of The Living Sea diving school is now the talk of the town after it was revealed that Kru Tor’s class was the first rescue team to respond to the tragic Koh Lan ferry accident on Sunday afternoon.

Kru Tor along with staff and seven students were having a diving class in the area when the Koh Lan ferry sank down, taking its 215 passengers into the sea. The class immediately called authorities and managed to save 61 passengers on their own. Kru Tor performed CPR on two passengers and managed to resuscitate a young Chinese boy.

The story of Kru Tor’s class has been shared in Thai online communities since yesterday and has drawn tremendous applause from Thai netizens, Sanook reported.
