Turtles Everywhere: Mysterious suitcases turn up at Suvarnabhumi

No one knows how many laps they completed, but hundreds of little, endangered turtles were left circling a baggage carousel at Suvarnabhumi for hours last night.

Two unclaimed suitcases containing 475 endangered turtles were left on the carousel after customs officers demanded to scan all suitcases from a Bangladesh flight.

At 8pm, Suvarnabhumi officers and authorities retrieved two mysterious suitcases from flight TG322 from Dhaka, Bangladesh after waiting two hours for someone to claim them.

The officers found living 423 radiated turtles and 52 hamilton turtles. The two species are protected by the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act of 1992.

No suspects were arrested.

The Wildlife Inspection Officers are to take care of the turtles while the further investigation is pursued, Khaosod reported.
