Schools shuttered, roads closed for amnesty protesters

While today may be T-G-I-Friday for most, another day of anti-amnesty protests is creating traffic grief for some.

Several routes around Democracy Monument and Parliament are still crowded this morning due to demonstrations against amnesty bills while 12 schools in the area decided to close today due to the unbearable traffic.

Three stages against the new bill still stand on Ratchadamnoen Road and the authorities have closed eight intersections including Panitchayakarn, Wangdang, Suan Mitsakawan,  Makkhawan Rangsan Bridge, Wat Benchamabophit, Kan Ruean, and Rajavithi. Those who do not possess proper documents or employee cards proving they reside or work in the area are not allowed to pass.

Meanwhile nine schools in Dusit district are closed today, and three other schools elsewhere. One of those is Satri Witthaya school, where students claim to have been affected by the noise, Khaosod reported.
