Thai rackets going the distance at China Open

Two Thai badminton players have have advanced at the China Open Super Series Premier in Shanghai.

Ratchanok Intanon won two matches against Hui Xirui of China by 21-16, 21-10, reaching the quarter-finals Thursday.

Fresh from winning a world title in August, the Thai teen was close to finishing off her unseeded Chinese opponent.

Also moving up the ladder was Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, who enters the last eight of the women’s singles after a 21-13, 21-15 win against Sayaka Takahashi of Japan.

A third young Thai player Busanan Ongbumrungpan, came up short in the second round when she lost to South Korea’s Ji Hyun Sung 21-17, 21-15, Bangkok Post reported.
