A US Secret Service agent’s drunken carousing in a Thailand brothel delayed a military transport plane flight from the Kingdom to South Korea in November 2009, according to a report from the Washington Post.

The article, based on documents given to the newspaper by a whistleblower, alleges sexual misconduct in 17 countries by the elite American agency tasked with protecting the president and other high-level officials.

Here’s the juicy excerpt from the Post:

In one incident in November 2009, the whistleblower said, a crew of more than 70 agents was waiting on a military transport plane to depart Thailand after a rest stop in the country before heading to South Korea.

One of the agents was missing, and to avoid a delay, a supervisor agreed to stay behind to retrieve him from a Thai brothel, where he was found intoxicated. Senior management agreed to transport the agent back to the United States at great expense on a commercial flight. He faced no punishment, the whistleblower said.

The article does not say where in Thailand this incident occurred but we’re guessing it was Bangkok.

President Barack Obama did not visit Thailand in 2009… but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sure did!

Perhaps this errant agent was one of the many in charge of protecting Madame Secretary while she was in town? We can only guess.

This isn’t the only recent report of US officials misbehaving in Thailand with prostitutes. It was revealed in October that US Navy Cmdr. Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz reportedly received bribes including local prostitutes he referred to as his “Elite Thai Seal Team” in exchange for approving service overcharges.

President Barack Obama visited Bangkok on an official state visit full of pomp and circumstance in 2012.
