Protesters move on more ministries, surround police headquarters

Anti-government protesters led by a former deputy prime minister Suthep Taugsuban remained camped within the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road after reportedly sleeping in the air-conditioned building last night.

After seizing or shutting down many government ministries this week, their campaign to disrupt government continued this morning as protesters paraded to the ministries of education and defence, reportedly to hand flowers to the soldiers.

Meanwhile, another group has shut down Rama I Road and gathered to blow their whistles in front of the Royal Thai Police headquarters this afternoon for the fourth day as they seek to pressure the national police to take their side. The building’s electricity and water have been cut.

The protest leaders have announced they will withdraw from the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Road on Saturday to make way for organizer’s of the king’s birthday ceremony, which is Dec. 5.  Protest leaders signalled their intent to relocate their forces to Chaeng Wattana and the Ministry of Finance, as they hope to persuade more government officers to join the protest, Sanook and Mthai reported.
