Police catch suspect in Bangkok rape, murder of girl, 6

Nine days after her father left her napping inside a pick-up truck outside a country music show in Bangkok, a 6-year-old girl’s skull was found and the man suspected of her kidnap, rape and murder was arrested in Nong Khai province.

Identified as “Nui,” the 32-year-old suspect from Khon Kaen, released one year ago after nearly four years imprisoned for child abduction, was spotted by a witness after security camera footage circulated online in the wake of the girl’s disappearance.

On Dec. 6, the girl’s father had taken her to a luk thung show on Soi Sukhumvit 65, and then put her inside a truck to sleep when she got tired. When he came back less than one hour later, she was gone.

Her mother fainted and the father broke downm, blaming himself, when police led them yesterday to where their daughter’s bloody shirt and skull were found.

Security camera footage from a 7-11 and the BTS Bearing station showed the girl being led by the hand by a man.

Police said the suspect has confessed to getting drunk on lao khao and beer before spotting the girl alone in the truck. He allegedly confessed to walking her across the BTS platform into a small side street where he raped and choked her, but denies killing her, Free District reported.
