Governor of Bangkok, Sukhumbhand Paribatra, has announced that 146 schools in 26 Bangkok districts will close to decrease the effects from the “Bangkok Shutdown” on Monday, when Suthep Thaugsuban plans to lead anti-government protesters to close down major intersections throughout the city.
The affected districts include: Phra Nakorn, Pom Prap Sattru Pai, Sampantawong, Bang Rak, Pathumwan, Yannawa, Dusit, Huai Kwang, Phra Kanong, Bangkhen, Phaya Thai, Donmuang, Chatuchak, Lat Prao, Sathorn, Bang Kho Laem, Bangsue, Ratchathewi, Klong Toei, Din Dang, Suan Luang, Lak Sri, Sai Mai, Wangthonglang, Bangna, and Wattana. In addition, Bangkok officials plan to bring out municipal police to work with traffic police in every protest area. Meanwhile, the BTS Skytrain will increase trips to facilitate commuters.
