Gas stations closed to prevent fueling violence

Want to feed a fire? There’s nothing like good old-fashioned gasoline.

Bangchak Pretoleum is handling ‘Bangkok Shutdown’ by closing five gas stations in the protest area to prevent the crowd from using petrol to fuel the violence.

The company has chained the fuel dispensers and cut the electricity in gas stations near the protest spots for safety issues, a Bangchak Petroleum executive said today. Meanwhile, other Bangchak stations located along the routes to the seven stages have stopped selling fuel, and only the toilets and minimarts are open.

However, PTT reveals their gas stations are open as usual but will close if the situation deteriorates. Also, they vowed to service vehicles only to prevent the rowd from using the fuel for other purposes, Thairath reported.
