Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban spoke to the exaltation of the huge crowd, reiterating his calls for the Yingluck Shinawatra government to fully resign immediately. Suthep also celebrated cash gifts that he had been given to support the protests.
The whistle-blowing was deafening, said photographer Zanyasan, but the crowd also enjoyed a performance from hip-hop star JJetrin and an appearance by outspoken anti-government celeb Pattaratida “Tangmo” Patcharaveerapong.
Depite a carnival-like atmosphere today, tourists are advised not to visit rally sites at night.
