The pitch was simple: You gave her THB500, and she stuck you with a needle full of drugs to make you whiter.
Unfortunately injecting one of those drugs is a banned use because it can kill you. That and the ladyboy clinician wasn’t a doctor and her clinic was actually just a beauty salon.
Police in Chonburi province arrested Thanaya Lakornrat, 35, who they said confessed to using the salon as a front for her skin-whitening treatments, which she primarily marketed to other ladyboys.
Vitamin C, skin whitening creams and glutathione, a substance furbidden for injection by the Food and Drugs Administration, were found at the clinic and believed to be part of her injection cocktail.
Police charged her with illegal provision of medical services without a permit, Khaosod reported.
