Is LINE turning our children into immoral sexual deviants?

Once again, don’t blame rampaging hormones or inadequate education for underage sex. Not when we can blame the Internet.

Today’s culprit: That favorite object of Thai passions, the Line instant messaging application, something which has probably done more to help adolescents avoid actual contact with one another.

That aside, Cony and Brown could be luring otherwise angelic teenagers down the thorny road of temptation, a public health official said yesterday, according to The Nation.

Once again, this sociological theory floated by the Public Health Ministry did not appear supported by any research.

Public health officials have been keen to reduce Thailand’s rising rates of sexually transmitted disease, teen pregnancy and unwanted pregnancy – all important public health priorities.

Fortunately it also provides services such as free tests for HIV, available twice a year for at-risk people.
