VIDEO: Bangkok’s ‘Officer Mom’ has delivered 47 babies in traffic

Ever wonder what a woman in labor would do if she’s stuck in the typical, hope-destroying traffic of Bangkok?

Since it might take as long as an hour for the ambulance to arrive, traffic police sometimes need to step in and take on midwifing duties in the middle of the street.

Bangkok police officer Mana Jokkoksong reveals he personally has delivered 47 babies by himself, and the traffic police occasionally receives midwife training for such a situation.

“When I deliver the babies, the minute I hear them cry, I feel relieved,” Mana says in a report on ITV news. “After that, I feel proud because all the people applaud and compliment me.”

Obviously, investing in training cops to deliver babies is more easily done than fixing the city’s eternal traffic hell.
