Shadow over Samut Prakarn: Leviathan surfaces from the deep (VIDEO)

Maybe it’s not a Naga or Deep One, but a bonafide sea monster has washed up in Samut Prakarn province.

They say it’s been 30 years since one of these leviathans was found there, but there it was, a 5-meter whale shark found yesterday morning at the Bangpu Dam.

If there was a Guinness Records in the animal world, this beast would hold many records. It’s the biggest non-mammal vertebrate and weighs about as much as many of the biggest dinosaurs.

Whale sharks can grow larger than 12 meters, and this juvenile was judged to be 11- to 14-years-old, over 500 kilograms and dead about three days, according to officers from the Bangpu Nature Education Center and Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.

The officials discovered some plastic bags in its belly, but not any wounds or evidence of attack. So far the cause of its death has not been determined, Daily News reported.
