Keyboard skills, production values and a soothing voice with a bit of an accent has helped Billy, the 19-year-old YouTube musician, score nearly 10 million views. The writing – at least his – isn’t part of the appeal: All are cover songs.
We first discovered Billy’s channel “BILLbilly01” through his Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know,” and were impressed by the flawless singing and cool music video, which was obviously filmed in an empty Bangkok parking lot.
Billy, who usually takes the producing role, features Thai guest singers in his covers and has made his channel a gathering of young Thai talents.
So far, Billy has gained 57,000 subscribers from all over the world, but with the talent and video quality comparable to world-renowned YouTube musicians such as Alex Goot and Tyler Ward, we think Billy’s a rising star many Thai mainstream artists need to watch out for.
