Voices of the Homeless: Street people say why they chose a tough lifestyle (VIDEO)

Whether they live on the street due to poverty or a passion for freedom, they all need acceptance and friendship.

In videos interviewing homeless Bangkokians by a homeless charity, simple quotes are presented from the people who live on the street to tell us what their journey is all about.

The videos, produced by the Issarachon Foundation, were posted in November but failed to go viral.

“I can go anywhere I want as long as I’m free. I have done every legal job there is, but I thought I wanted to do something that sets me free, something where nobody would tell me what to do. That’s why I ended up collecting garbage.”

“I want to go home, but I would just be my family’s baggage. If I die, I’d rather die here.”

“I feel comfortable like this. I like it. Why would I be at home by myself? I live homeless because it’s fun, and my days are never long. I go left and then right. If they shoo me, I go the other way. If they don’t want me to sleep here, I’ll just sleep over there.”

“I’m 75 years old. What can I do? My ashes would make good fertilizer. I asked them if I could work as a construction worker, but they didn’t hire me because I’m old.”
