A 19-year-old man who initially blamed his dead brother for killing their parents confessed yesterday that he was the one to kill his family in revenge for not buying him a car.

After his original story of innocence didn’t hold up, Akarawat Soraprom told police at the Pratunam-Chulalongkorn station that he shot his parents and younger brother as they slept Saturday in their Pathum Thani home.

Akarawat revealed he didn’t feel trusted by his family after they installed CCTV systems at their home and the Lat Phrao condo they had bought for him. Akarawat added he had previously attempted to kill his parents with sleeping pills because they did not also buy him a car.

Before the shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning, Akarawat said his mother refused to let him drive their car to go pick up his girlfriend because he’d been drinking all night, Sanook reported.

So in response, he turned off the CCTV and shot his mother, father and brother while they slept in bed, police said.

Before confessing, Akarawat had maintained his brother killed mom and dad before turning the gun on himself because they’d criticized him for bad grades. That was after he’d claimed to ignore the sound of gunshots fired inside the home and driven off to university in the morning.
