There’s a stretch of Chakkaphatdi Phong Road so famous for its delicious fried banana that it’s known as Klauy Kaek Road. Many vendors are located there, such as Mae Gim Lung of the blue apron, Mae Gim Lung of the white apron and Mae Gim Yui of the red. The vendors’ aprons are important for identifying them and their distinctive recipes. They are found along the road, as well as on Nakhon Sawan and Lan Luang roads. They add color, life and – as many drivers use them like drive-thrus – a little danger to the road. If you’d like to try it, roll up on the colored apron of choice, prepare a THB20 note and make a quick window transaction to enjoy kluay kaek while stuck in the traffic.
