Renegade Japanese modder transforms classic Porsches in Bangkok (PHOTOS)

Bangkok recently played host to a legend in the automotive world. Nakai-san, a man who has sent shockwaves through the Porsche tuning sphere was in town to work on a classic Porsche 911. He’s reached semi-celebrity status by transforming old Porsche 911s into wild-looking, beastly machines, and his unorthodox designs have sparked an ongoing debate online as to whether or not classic Porsches should be tampered with.

Nakai-san started doing creative bodywork on classic Porsches more than a decade ago, but his work stayed in Japan for the better part of that time and was relatively unknown. At the present he flies around the world to do bodywork on Porsches for wealthy clients in the US, Philippines, and Dubai to name a few. There’s a yearlong wait for his service, and the bodywork treatment starts at roughly THB1 million.

What’s interesting is that outside Japan, there are more RWB cars on the road in Thailand than anywhere else. In fact, the first ever RWB car outside Japan was built here in Bangkok two years ago. After this weekend’s build there are now 11 Porsche 911s worked on by Nakai-san in the kingdom.

The Bangkok garage that carries out the builds is Autohaus RWB.

Coconuts was on hand to document the master craftsman’s latest build.
