Summer storms batter north, northeast of Thailand

The northern and northeastern regions of Thailand have been struck by summer storms, causing heavy damage to public property. 

Si Sa Ket Province has been hard hit by a summer storm that lasted about an hour. The storm destroyed more than 300 houses, a number of vehicles and utility poles, knocking out power for at least 10 hours.

Likewise, Chainat was struck by a storm that caused damage to many homes in three subdistricts. Trees and street signs were also brought down by the gusty winds. 

In Phichit Province, 700 houses, temples, and schools, in three districts were ruined by an hour long storm. Big trees collapsed onto streets, blocking entrances to several locations. According to reports, the storm also brought down 13 utility poles, causing a widespread power shortage, NNT reported.
