This year’s Songkran is guaranteed to be crime-free now that police have taken into custody public enemy No. 1: homeless people.

The Children and Women Protection Sub-Division held a press conference today announcing the arrest of 34 Thai and 15 Cambodian homeless people yesterday afternoon.

An annual ritual, the homeless are removed as the Metropolitan Police Bureau believes they are responsible for crimes during the Songkran holidays.

Working together with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, officials will seek relatives to pick up the homeless.

The Cambodians? They’ll just be deported.

In case no relatives are found, they will be sent for a relaxing and uplifting stay at the “Nonthaburi Reception Home for the Destitute,” as some are mentally ill and need treatment, Daily News reported.
