Security concerns have prompted anti-government protesters to suspend activities for four days during the Songkran holiday.
Protest leader Suthep Thausuban said no marches would be organized from April 12 to 15 after meeting with Defense Ministry officials.
The military reportedly told Suthep they did not have the forces to safeguard protesters during the holiday period, when the streets will be filled with mischief.
Suthep said he agreed to hold off on leading any marches so soldiers and police could have time with their families, The Nation reported.
