Street-to-street fighting in the capital prompts shutdown of roads

Several Bangkok roads will close for the customary water wars of Songkran, according to an announcement from the Thai Traffic Police this morning:

Closed 6pm to midnight, Sunday to Tuesday, except as noted:

1. Khaosan Road

2. Jakkapong Road

3. Bowonniwet Road

4. Samsib Hang Road

5. Tanao Road (from Khok Wua intersection to Samsib Hang roundabout)

6. Silom Road (from Sala Daeng to Naradhiwas) will be closed 2pm to 9pm.

Also, water warriors are warned again it is prohibited to snipe from and dance atop trucks along the following roads, or they will be fined THB1,000:

1. Thawi Watthana Road

2. Utthayan Road

3. Chok Chai 4 road

4. Lat Phrao – Wanghin Road

5. Nak Niwat Road

6. Soi Phaholyothin 58
