Going by the number of new park announcements from city officials, Bangkok is going to open about 96 new parks during the coming year.

Except it’s really just the same three parks being re-announced every two to three months. Most recently, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reaffirmed that three parks earlier announced will indeed open this year – as announced and reported by NNT.

That includes a 34-rai park is set to be unveiled under the Watcharapol overpass. a second in the Bang Plat district and a third being built on Suwin Thawong Road, which will be completed by August.

The BMA has announced many times that creating green space is a priority after recent reports suggested Bangkok doesn’t has the least of other major Asian urban centers. The capital only has 3 sqm of green per person, whereas every Singaporean has 66 square meters.
