Going Postal: Officials personally apologize to man furious over folded envelope

After a Bangkok man’s rant about a folded envelope went big online, postal service officials had to stop by his house to apologize.

Abhisit Samsanguan vented his rage at Thailand Post in a YouTube video Sunday for folding his envelope when the sender obviously wrote in big words: “Don’t Fold.”

At last count, the video was watched 72,000 times.

“I’m fed with the Thai Post Office. The sender wrote down ‘Don’t fold,’ on the envelope,” Abhisit said in his video. “Can’t you read Thai? If you cannot do such a simple task, why don’t you go back to your hometown and raise a buffalo?”

Accusing each other of being “buffaloes” is a popular Thai insult.

Abhisit showed the envelope contains a photo of a monk, which he received as a gift and has a sentimental value.

Abhisit’s video sparked a discussion between netizens who shared photos of their totally flattened, folded and abused packages.

On Tuesday, officials from Thailand Post’s Lak Si district stopped by his house and handed Abhisit a new photograph, prompting him to praise their responsibility.

“The officials of Lak Si post office have warned their employees over this incident,” he wrote. “They apologized. Everyone is happy!”
